The Hügel Haus, Big Powderhorn Village

Booking Two Units Side by Side

The default assumption is that a group of eight needs a house that sleeps eight. It is worth questioning.

Two one-bedroom units sleep the same eight

Each Hügel Haus unit is one bedroom sleeping four. Two of them side by side is eight people, two kitchens and two bathrooms — which is usually more bathroom per person than a four-bedroom house gives you.

Two kitchens is the underrated part

One kitchen and eight people means one person cooks and seven wait. Two kitchens means two families run their own mornings on their own schedules, which is what actually causes friction on a group trip — not sleeping arrangements, breakfast.

Adjoining if you want the connection

We have adjoining suites and rooms for families who want to move between spaces without going outside — useful when the children are small enough that you want a door rather than a walk.

Scaling further

Three units is twelve people. Ski clubs and larger parties take several at once; ski club lodging is here. Everyone under one roofline, nobody sharing a bathroom with a stranger.

One thing to do early

Adjacent units book as a block, so ask for them by number when you reserve rather than booking separately and hoping. Over Christmas and Presidents’ week, that needs to happen months out.
